Licensing Act 2003 Activity - March 2019 pdf icon PDF 70 KB

Report of the Interim Monitoring Officer and Assistant Director of Legal Services attached.

Minutes:

The Head of Licensing presented a report that provided information to Members on the Licensing Activity of the authority between the months of November 2018 to February 2019. The activity included the consideration of a Personal Licence, revocation of a Premises Licence and formal closure of an Adult Gaming Centre by the Gambling Commission.

Members noted the positive work of the Authority and the Licensing Panels. The Head of Licensing informed members of a recent example regarding the suspension of a Premises Licence for a convenience store. The store had failed two underage test sales purchases in six months along with repeated breaches of licensing conditions. In addition suspicious activity had led the Authority and the police to believe that drug dealing was taking place from the premises.

A decision was taken by a Licensing Panel to suspend the licence for two months and to remove the Designated Premises Supervisor. A condition was also placed upon the licence that prohibited an individual from the premises in the interests of public safety.

RESOLVED: (Unanimously)

That the report be noted.
