Decision made:

That a lease be granted on the terms set out in this report to Vernon Carus Sports and Social Club, subject to the receipt of satisfactory references.

Reasons for decision:

As part of the land transfer from Lane Ends Development Construction Limited on 13^th September 2022, the Council acquired Vernon Carus Sports and Social Club and surrounding land (as shown on appendix 1).

The Estates Department wish to grant a lease to the club to regularise Vernon Carus Sports and Social Club’s occupation whilst clearly defining lease responsibilities and the club’s demise surrounding the occupation of the property.

Other options considered and rejected:

That the Council do not let the property to Vernon Carus Sports and Social Club, this would represent a missed opportunity in terms of developing a local Sports and Community Hub in-line with the objectives of the Leisure Facilities Strategy.
