RESOLVED (UNANIMOUS):
That the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the consideration of the following item of business as it involved the discussion of information which was defined as exempt from publication under paragraphs 1 and 2 (information relating to an individual and information which was likely to reveal the identity of an individual) of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 and in which the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing it.

Appeal Against Final Written Warning
The committee considered an appeal against the decision to issue a final written warning by an employee from the Regeneration and Healthy Communities service group.
With the permission of the committee and in accordance with the council's hearing procedure, the appellant addressed the meeting and questions were asked.
The Director of Regeneration and Healthy Communities presented the management's case (and called a witness) and questions were asked.
Having fully considered the representations (written and oral), the committee adjourned to reach its decision.
RESOLVED (UNANIMOUS):
That the appeal against the decision to issue a final written warning be dismissed and the committee made the following comments that
1. the evidence presented supported the allegations;
2. these were serious matters and shortcomings, and whilst the committee recognised that there had been historic practices, they did not accord with current procedures and practices;
3. the management findings were correct and the sanction appropriate; and
4. there were learning points to be made regarding improved communications and appropriate training for the appellant so that procedures and practices were more explicit.
